Carrie Kaziah Needels Shoemaker
Carrie Kaziah [Needels] Shoemaker born 6 Nov 1877 in Sweet Home, Clark Co., Missouri married Charles Wesley Shoemaker 23 Feb 1902 in Parnell, Nodaway Co., Missouri died 5 Dec 1957 in Plaquemine, Iberville Parish, Louisiana (aged 80) |
Grandma Jesse's beautiful mother. She wrote about Carrie in the large family history book that was passed down to her:
The opsite [sic] page tells much of my mother & leaves out much. As the baby of a well to do family she was pampered & highly educated. She had a brilliant quick mind. Those she loved she loved deeply. Those she disliked she stayed away from.
She had a great love for Children [sic] and flowers. Was very religious.
I feel most of the appreciation for good music & lititure [sic] she taught me. She was firm but gentle. From the age of 42 she had Parkinson disease. But not one time did I hear her complain about it.
Our home lost much with her passing -- her great faith & courage was an insperation [sic] to us all. The courage she taught me has stood me in good stead. She was even at a very old age eager to keep up with world affairs and new inventions, and ready to face life & death as it was. She lived with us for 20 years.
