- His first wife was Susannah P. Boatright, who had been born in Kentucky. They married in 1833 in Kentucky, and were together until she died seven years later.
- He later married Nancy C. Robertson.
Oliver died 8 May 1877 in Cooper Co., Missouri at the age of 68.
